Tennessee Vols Game Notes
Tennessee redshirt senior QB Jarrett Guarantano completed 14-of-23 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and rushed for two more scores in a 35-12 blowout win over Missouri on Saturday. Guarantano’s completion percentage isn’t ideal, but it was a solid day as a game manager with the Volunteers able to rush for 232 yards and four scores in the blowout. The 6-foot-4, 213-pound signal-caller plunged in from short-yardage for a pair of running touchdowns himself in the second half, and he added a 13-yard touchdown in the second quarter on a pass to Eric Gray. Guarantano wasn’t great on Saturday, but it was certainly good enough against a team that isn’t likely to win many SEC games. Tennessee moves to 2-0, and they will have a chance for a signature win next Saturday against Georgia.
Georgia Bulldogs Game Notes
Georgia redshirt junior QB Stetson Bennett completed 17-of-28 passes for 240 yards in a 27-6 win over Auburn on Saturday. Bennett got the start as expected, and while it wasn’t a perfect outing, he certainly did enough for the Bulldogs to easily handle the Tigers in this matchup for two Top 10 teams. The touchdown was a beautiful touch pass to George Pickens, and he was able to find Kearis Jackson often for 147 yards on his nine catches. The term “game manager” is often used as a negative, but right now, Bennett (5’11/190) is doing just that and doing it well for the Bulldogs. Georgia will face undefeated Tennessee on Saturday.
