According to the latest oddsmakers, Alabama is the heavy favorite in this game, as the Crimson Tide are getting odds of -34.5 points against Tennessee. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Alabama staying dominant
Alabama continued its unbeaten season last weekend when it went on the road and picked up a 47-28 win at Texas A&M. The Crimson Tide are now 6-0 on the season, 3-0 in the SEC, 3-3 against the spread and 4-2 with the over.
The Tide have been dominant on offense this season, averaging 51 points and 537.2 yards per game. Defensively, Alabama is giving up just 17 points and 336.2 yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa is in the Heisman race again, as he has thrown for 2,011 yards and 27 touchdowns with just one interception. DeVonta Smith is the leading receiver with 38 catches for 636 yards and nine touchdowns while Najee Harris has rushed for 451 yards and a score. Smith will have to sit out the first half of this game due to being ejected last week against A&M. Anfernee Jennings is leading the defense with 37 tackles and four sacks.
Vols coming off a win
The Volunteers are coming off a 20-10 victory at home over Mississippi State last weekend to end a two-game skid. Tennessee is now 2-4 on the season, 1-2 in the SEC, 2-4 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.
Tennessee has struggled offensively this season, putting up just 23 points and 353.5 yards per game. Defensively, the Vols are giving up 25.7 points and 358.7 yards per contest. Tennessee went with freshman Brian Maurer for a few games at QB, but he suffered a concussion last week and is questionable to play on Saturday. Jarrett Guarantano will go if Maurer can’t. He has thrown for 856 yards and eight touchdowns. Jauan Jennings is the leading receiver with 29 catches for 412 yards and five touchdowns while Ty Chandler is the leading rusher with 383 yards and two scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Alabama
The Crimson Tide are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win and 0-5 ATS in their last five against a losing team.
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games following a win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on grass.
Prediction:
Alabama has been able to dominate Tennessee over the years and the Crimson Tide have covered the spread in three straight against the Vols. The Tide are going to score plenty tonight, but the question is how many points will Tennessee score? The Tide have been a little rough on defense this year, allowing at least 23 points in all three SEC games. Despite that, I still think the Tide can put up enough points to cover. I see this game being around a 50-14 score, or maybe a little more for Bama. Tennessee just won’t be able to get stops.
