Bulls hitting their stride
After a slow start to the year, South Florida has won three of its last four to gain some momentum. That includes a 45-20 win at ECU on Oct. 26. The Bulls are now 4-4 on the year, 2-2 in the AAC, 5-3 against the spread and 4-3-1 with the over.
The Bulls have struggled with their offense this year, averaging 26.1 points and 353.6 yards per game. Defensively, USF is allowing 28.4 points and 384.9 yards per contest. Jordan McCloud has been the leading passer with 776 yards and 10 touchdowns, but has been dealing with an ankle injury. He is expected to play tonight. McCloud also has 242 rushing yards with four touchdowns, while Jordan Cronkite has 587 rushing yards and four scores. Mitchell Wilcox is the leading receiver with 15 catches for 254 yards and four touchdowns.
Temple in need of a win
The Temple football team has lost back-to-back games to SMU and UCF over recent weeks to drop to 5-3 on the season. The Owls are 2-2 in the AAC, 4-4 against the spread and 5-3 with the over.
The Owls are average on both offense and defense this year, as neither unit is great but also isn’t terrible. The Temple offense is putting up 27.6 points and 402.6 yards per game while the defense is allowing 27.8 points and 403.1 yards per contest. Anthony Russo is leading the team with 1,873 yards and 16 touchdowns with eight interceptions while Re’Mahn Davis is the leading rusher with 655 yards and five touchdowns. Branden Mack is the leading receiver with 43 catches for 629 yards and five scores.
College Football Betting Trends
South Florida
The Bulls are 5-12 against the spread in their last 17 conference games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine home games.
Temple
The Owls are 37-16 against the spread in their last 53 conference games, but 0-4 ATS in their last four road games.
Prediction:
The home team has won five straight in this series and South Florida has covered in three of the last four meetings with the Owls. The Owls have really struggled on the road this year, failing to cover in any of the games, while suffering three straight up losses. USF is heating up and its defense has shown improvement, which should help against this Temple team that is struggling to find its offense right now. Coming off back-to-back losses and then a bye week may have mentally defeated the Owls somewhat, as they are out of the AAC race. USF is trending in the other direction and can pick up a big win at home on national television.
