TCU cruising to 2-0
Despite a shaky start last week, TCU went on to a 42-12 win at SMU to improve to 2-0. The Horned Frogs have beat SMU and Southern by a combined 97-19 this year and they are 1-1 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under as well. The Horned Frogs are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games.
TCU has been very strong on defense through two games, allowing just 9.5 points and 213.5 yards per contest. On offense, the Horned Frogs are putting up 446 yards per game behind a strong rushing attack. Three different players have over 100 yards on the ground right now. Quarterback Shawn Robinson leads the way with 112 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing for 336 yards and four scores.
Buckeyes looking dominant
Ohio State will be playing its third and final game without head coach Urban Meyer this week, but it hasn’t hurt them thus far. Ohio State has beaten Oregon State and Rutgers by a combined score of 129-34. They are 2-0 against the spread, but have surprisingly hit one under in the two games. The Buckeyes have covered the spread in four straight games coming into this, including two games on a neutral field.
The Buckeyes are putting up 650 yards of offense per game thus far and they are doing it with a balanced ground and air attack. On the ground, Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins has combined for 364 yards and four touchdowns while quarterback Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 546 yards and nine touchdowns in two games. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing just 263 yards per game, including just 130.5 passing yards.
College Football Betting Trends
TCU
TCU is just 1-4 ATS in their last five against Big Ten opponents and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games at a neutral site.
Ohio State
Ohio State is 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games at a neutral site and 6-2 ATS in their last eight against Big 12 opponents.
Prediction:
The Buckeyes are a team that looks like they have a chip on their shoulder given the Urban Meyer suspension. They already were a program that seemed to step up in the big games and this is one of the big ones for them. They will be out for blood to show they are a national contender this year. TCU just doesn’t have the same depth and speed that OSU has. I think the game gets out of hand in the second half as the Ohio State skill players are just too far ahead of TCU’s.
