Oregon Ducks Game Notes
Oregon senior DT Jordon Scott will turn pro after the Fiesta Bowl, foregoing the extra season of eligibility that is being offered the NCAA. With the NCAA freezing all eligibility clocks for this season due to the coronavirus pandemic, seniors have the opportunity to return to school for another run in 2021. Scott (6’1/322), who decided to not enter the NFL Draft after a very good junior season, will not being taking advantage of that rule. The senior defensive tackle accounted for 12 tackles (1.0 for loss) in six games this season. Scott projects to be a Day 3 selection in this spring’s draft.
Iowa State Cyclones Game Notes
Iowa State junior QB Brock Purdy completed 27-of-40 passes for 322 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in a 27-21 loss to Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game on Saturday. Purdy (6’1/212) had his moments today, but his three interceptions were back-breakers and may have prevented his team from winning this game. The television broadcast team put a little blame on Iowa State’s coaching staff, and some of that is warranted. On Iowa State’s last offensive play, for instance, with a little over a minute remaining in the game and the Cyclones trailing by six, ISU appeared confused as they tried to quickly snap the ball, with substitutions rushing in from off the bench — and then Purdy scrambled out to his right, chucked the ball downfield up for grabs, and was intercepted for the third time of the day. The 8-3 Cyclones now await their bowl assignment.
Oregon vs. Iowa State Betting Prediction
The Ducks are just 7-15 against the spread in their last 22 games coming off an ATS win and are 5-11-1 against the number in their last 17 non-conference games. Oregon has failed to cover in 15 of its last 20 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in its previous game as well. Meanwhile, the Cyclones are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games as a favorite and have covered in 16 of their last 23 games coming off a loss.
