Beavers edged by Washington State
Oregon State is coming off a 54-53 loss at Washington State last weekend for a second loss in three games. The Beavers come into this game at 5-6 overall, 4-4 in the Pac-12, 8-3 against the spread and 6-5 with the over.
The Beavers have struggled defensively this year, allowing 33.3 points and 453 yards per game. Despite the defensive struggles, Hamilcar Rashed Jr. does have 60 tackles and 14 sacks this season. Offensively, Oregon State is putting up 33.1 points and 414.9 yards per contest. Jake Luton has thrown for 2,714 yards and 28 touchdowns with just three interceptions. Artavis Pierce is the leading rusher with 848 yards and six touchdowns, while Isaiah Hodgins is the leading receiver with 78 catches for 1,086 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Oregon slips up on the road
The Ducks saw their 9-game winning streak and playoff hopes come to an end last weekend in a 31-28 loss at Arizona State. Oregon is now 9-2 on the season, 7-1 in the Pac-12, 6-5 against the spread and 6-5 with the under.
Oregon has been led all season by its defense, which is giving up just 16.3 points and 328.6 yards per game. Offensively, Oregon is putting up 36.9 points and 463.3 yards per contest. Justin Herbert has thrown or 2,966 yards and 30 touchdowns to lead the offense, while Johnny Johnson III is the leading receiver with 45 catches for 692 yards and five scores. CJ Verdell is the team’s top rusher with 913 yards and five scores, but he is questionable to play this weekend due to a hand injury.
College Football Betting Trends
Oregon State
The Beavers are 5-1-1 with the over in their last seven games in November and in 19 of their last 26 road games.
Oregon
The Ducks are 4-1 with the over in their last five conference games and 20-7-1 with the over in their last 28 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
These tow are 6-3-1 with the over in their last 10 meetings. It’s surprising to see the total so high for a team like Oregon that has been defensive-minded for the most part. Last week was a bit of a surprise for Oregon, as the Ducks gave up 31 to a poor ASU team on the road. Prior to that, the Ducks allowed just six to Arizona at home. I don’t think the Beavers are going to put up a big total on the road against an Oregon team that should be motivated to step up on defense. The Ducks should be able to score on this bad Oregon State defense, but not enough to carry the over largely on their own.
College Football Week 14 Prediction: Oregon State/Oregon Under 65.5
