Missouri relying on its defense
Missouri is coming off an impressive 42-10 win over Troy at home last weekend. The Tigers come into today’s game at 4-1 overall, 1-0 in the SEC, 4-1 against the spread and 4-1 with the under.
The Tigers enter this weekend with one of the top defenses in the nation. Missouri is giving up just 13.6 points and 227.2 yards per game. Cale Garrett is leading the unit with 39 tackles and three interceptions. Offensively, Missouri is putting up 39 points and 456.8 yards per contest. Former Clemson QB Kelly Bryant has thrown for 1,256 yards and 11 touchdowns to lead the offense. He got a scare last week with a knee injury, but is probable to play tonight. Larry Rountree III is leading the Missouri ground game with 431 yards and five touchdowns while Jonathan Nance is the leading receiver with 11 catches for 225 yards.
Rebels get needed win
Ole Miss put an end to its two-game losing streak last weekend with a 31-6 win at home over Vanderbilt. The Rebels come into this game with a 3-3 record overall and a 2-1 mark in the SEC. Ole Miss is 3-3 against the spread and 3-3 with the over/under total.
The Rebels are putting up 27.2 points and 438.2 yards per game on offense this season while the defense is allowing 25.7 points and 395.3 yards per game. Matt Corral has thrown or 844 yards and four touchdowns this season, but he has missed the last two games with a rib injury and is questionable to play tonight. John Rhys Plumlee has filled in for him and has thrown for 322 yards and two scores. Plumlee also has rushed for 327 yards and two touchdowns as a dual-threat option. Scottie Phillips is the leading rusher with 451 yards and five touchdowns. Elijah Moore is the leading receiver on the team with 36 catches for 460 yards and three touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Missouri
The Tigers have hit the under in seven straight home games and in eight straight games on fieldturf.
Ole Miss
The Rebels are 5-1 with the under in their last six conference games, but 7-2-1 with the over in their last 10 games in October.
Prediction:
Missouri has won the last three against Ole Miss and the two have hit the under in two of the three encounters, but this is their first meeting since 2013. Missouri needs its defense to win, so the Tigers will have to play well on that side of the ball. However, Ole Miss is one of the toughest teams it will face yet. The Rebels have some talent despite the issues with the program in recent years. The Ole Miss defense isn’t great, but I think they can challenge the Tigers up front. Kelly Bryant may also not quite be 100 percent. That could play a role in the total as well.
College Football Week 7 Prediction: Ole Miss/Missouri Under 56.5
