Rebels drop another
It’s been a tough season for Ole Miss, as the Rebels are now 3-5 on the season following a 24-17 loss at home to Texas A&M two weeks ago. They are just 2-3 in the SEC, 4-4 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
Ole Miss has given up 27 points and 409.2 yards per game on defense this year. Those numbers aren’t bad, but Ole Miss is one of the worst passing defenses in the nation, allowing 284.4 yards per game through the air. Offensively, Ole Miss is putting up 25.9 points and 434.2 yards per contest. Matt Corral has thrown for 1,101 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense while John Rhys Plumlee has thrown for 456 yards and four scores while rushing for 508 yards and four more touchdowns. Scottie Phillips is the leading rusher with 538 yards and five touchdowns while Elijah Moore is the leading receiver with 49 catches for 621 yards and four scores.
Auburn edged by LSU
The Auburn Tigers are coming off a tough 23-20 loss at LSU last weekend. Auburn wrapped up a three-game road stand where it went 1-2 with losses to the Tigers and Florida. Auburn is 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the SEC, 7-1 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total.
Defense has led the way for Auburn, as the Tigers are giving up just 17.9 points and 342.6 yards per game. Marlon Davidson is leading the defense with 35 tackles and 5.5 sacks. He is questionable to play this weekend due to a back injury. Offensively, Auburn is putting up 34.2 points and 415.4 yards per contest. Freshman Bo Nix has thrown for 1,458 yards and 12 touchdowns to lead the Auburn offense while also rushing for 194 yards and four scores. JaTarvious Whitlow is Auburn’s leading rusher with 553 yards and seven touchdowns while Seth Williams has 29 receptions for 523 yards and eight touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Ole Miss
The Rebels have hit the over in four straight against a winning team, but they are 6-2 with the under in their last eight SEC games.
Auburn
The Tigers have hit the over in 13 of their last 18 games against a losing team, but are 9-4 with the under in their last 13 games in November.
Prediction:
These two have split the over/under total over their last six meetings. The Tigers have proven that their defense will hold up no matter where they go, as they gave LSU the most problems on offense they have had all year. Ole Miss isn’t likely to get much traction on Auburn with their average offense, but I wouldn’t expect a shutout. Still, Ole Miss won’t need many points for the over to hit. Auburn has been able to explode offensively on average defenses, putting up 51 on Arkansas and 56 on Mississippi State. Following a loss, I expect Auburn to want to come out and make an example of Ole Miss, so I would look for a lot of Tiger touchdowns on Saturday.
