Rebels fall to Cal
The Ole Miss Rebels suffered a 28-20 loss at home over California last weekend to drop to 2-2 on the year. Ole Miss did win its SEC opener, but the Rebels are just 1-3 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total.
Mississippi is struggling on offense, averaging just 25.3 points and 410 yards per game. Defensively, Ole Miss is giving up 22.3 points and 383.3 yards per contest. Matt Corral has been under center this year, throwing for 844 yards and four touchdowns, but a rib injury forced him out of last week’s game and he is questionable to play this Saturday. John Rhys Plumlee took over when Corral left the game and he has thrown for 82 yards this year. Elijah Moore is the team’s leading receiver with 29 catches for 380 yards and three touchdowns. Scottie Phillips is the leading rusher with 362 yards and four touchdowns.
Bama dominating
Alabama is coming off another dominant win, beating Southern Miss 49-7. The Crimson Tide are 1-0 in the SEC, 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 with the over/under total on the year.
The Tide are looking impressive on both sides of the ball. The offense is putting up 50 points and 550 yards per game, while the defense is allowing 10.8 points and 287.8 yards per contest. Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,300 yards and 17 touchdowns without an interception. Jerry Jeudy is his leading receiver with 30 catches for 404 yards and six touchdowns. Najee Harris is the leading rusher with 266 yards and a score. Anfernee Jennings is leading the defense with 20 tackles and three sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Ole Miss
The Rebels have hit the under in four straight conference games and in 20 of their last 30 road games.
Alabama
Alabama is 9-2 with the over in their last 11 games in September and in four straight after allowing less than 20 points in their previous outing.
Prediction:
These two have hit the over in three of their last four meetings. Alabama has put up some pretty strong numbers this year, but in order to hit the over on Saturday, the Tide are going to have to score around 50. I think that is a lot to ask in a conference game. The Rebels haven’t been too bad on defense and Alabama is likely to take its foot off the gas in the second half. Defensively, Alabama is just too strong for Ole Miss to do much scoring. The Rebels are likely to be the next in line to be held to 10 points or less by the Tide.
