Oklahoma Sooners Game Notes
Oklahoma redshirt freshman QB Spencer Rattler shook off a mid-game benching to complete 23-of-35 throws for 209 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday’s 53-45 4OT victory over Texas. He added 51 rushing yards and another score as the Sooners evened their record at 2-2. Rattler (6’1/205) was briefly benched at the end of the first half for Tanner Mordecai. Coming out of the locker room after halftime, when the game was tied 17-17, Lincoln Riley sent Rattler back onto the field. The ballyhooed five-star recruit continues to go through growing pains. His accuracy, zip and awareness waver drive-to-drive. But when Rattler is on, he’s a handful, with snapper accuracy, a quick release and enough shake to steal free yards on the ground. Expect Rattler to draw the start in two weeks against TCU. But today showed that his leash isn’t very long.
TCU Horned Frogs Game Notes
TCU sophomore QB Max Duggan completed 19-of-30 passes for 154 yards while rushing for a touchdown and 43 yards in a 21-14 loss to Kansas State on Saturday. Duggan scampered in on a three-yard touchdown to make it 21-14 with a little over three minutes left in the fourth quarter to bring TCU to within a score at 21-14. Outside of that, the sophomore signal-caller was not impressive despite a decent completion percentage, and threw for just five yards an attempt in the loss. Duggan can certainly make plays with his legs, but he’s going to have to be much better with his arm if TCU is going to compete for a Big 12 title. He and the Horned Frogs get a bye before taking on Oklahoma on October 24.
Oklahoma vs. TCU Betting Prediction
