Oklahoma State Cowboys Game Notes
Oklahoma State redshirt junior QB Spencer Sanders completed 13-of-23 passes for 152 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Saturday’s 24-14 win over Baylor. This was a letdown performance after Sanders (6’1/205) threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns last week against Kansas State. OSU went heavy on the run, relying on Jaylen Warren to move the ball, and it worked as he ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders’ lone touchdown came as he was able to air it out on a play-action pass to a leaping Rashod Owens for 32-yards. He threw three picks in the game, thankfully Baylor was not able to convert those into points. OSU is on a bye this week and will go on the road to face Texas on October 16th.
Texas Longhorns Game Notes
Texas redshirt sophomore QB Casey Thompson completed 20-of-34 passes for 388 yards and five touchdowns in Saturday’s 55-48 loss to Oklahoma. Can’t put this one on Thompson. Highly impressive performance for a player who had a spotlight affixed to him this week due to Thompson’s father having played at Oklahoma. Particularly in the first half, he was lights-out, with the Longhorns taking a 38-20 lead into halftime. Thompson aggressively hunted for deep shots to Xavier Worthy, and that aspect of today’s offense alone gave the Sooners fits. Texas (4-2) will try to get back on track with a home game against undefeated Oklahoma State next Saturday.
