Longhorns rolls over RIce
After suffering a tough 45-38 loss at home to LSU two weeks ago, Texas bounced back with a 48-13 win at Rice last Saturday. The Longhorns are 2-1 on the year, 2-1 against the spread and 3-0 with the over.
Texas has been pretty impressive on offense, putting up 43.7 points and 497.7 yards per game in 2019. The Longhorn defense is giving up just 24 points per game, but allowing 417.3 yards per outing. Their pass defense is giving up 330 yards per contest. Offensively, Sam Ehlinger is leading the team with 956 passing yards and 11 touchdowns while also rushing for 121 yards and a score. Keaontay Ingram is the leading rusher with 181 yards and three scores while Devin Duvernay is the leading receiver with 27 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns.
Oklahoma State looking for 4-0 start
Oklahoma State has put up three lopsided wins to open the season, including a 40-21 win at Tulsa last weekend. The Cowboys are 3-0 against the spread as well as 2-1 with the over this year.
OSU has been great on offense thus far, averaging 49.3 points and 547 yards per game behind a balanced attack. Chuba Hubbard is leading the offense with 521 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while quarterback Spencer Sanders has thrown for 622 yards and seven scores while rushing for 219 yards and a touchdown. Tylan Wallace is the team’s leading receiver with 15 catches for 390 yards and six touchdowns. The Oklahoma State defense is giving up just 23.7 points and 387.3 yards per game. Amen Ogbongbemiga is leading the defense with 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas
The Longhorns are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six following a win and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games following a win of more than 20 points.
Oklahoma State
The Cowboys have covered in five straight against a winning team and in six straight on fieldturf.
Prediction:
Oklahoma State has been a real problem for Texas in recent years, winning the last four meetings. I think the Longhorns will come in very motivated to end that streak. Oklahoma State is going to find ways to score, but the Texas offense is capable of scoring with them and ultimately, scoring more. I don’t think this Cowboys team is going to be able to make the key plays in the clutch on the road, while Ehlinger is poised to do that. He was able to put up big numbers against a good LSU defense, so I look for him to lead Texas to the cover tonight against a bad defense.
