Ohio State Buckeyes Game Notes
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and his Buckeyes rise to number two in the latest College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday night. Even though both Alabama and Ohio State won football games on Saturday afternoon, only the Buckeyes jumped out to a 49-0 lead over number seven Michigan State at halftime. It was a dominating performance where the Buckeyes completely neutralized Spartans RB Kenneth Walker III and scored touchdowns on their first seven drives. With their current positioning, a playoff berth is all but certain with wins on Saturday against Michigan and either Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game.
Michigan Wolverines Game Notes
Michigan sophomore QB Cade McNamara completed 21 of 28 passes for 259 yards and two scores as the Wolverines rolled in College Park, 59-18. On a day when Heisman candidates C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young lit up the stat sheet, McNamara’s day was no less successful. He connected early in the game with Mark Sainristil for a highlight-reel touchdown and remained in control throughout, as the Wolverines distanced themselves with a number of big plays in the second half. The victory sets up a much-anticipated showdown with Ohio State, as Michigan (10-1) will need to defeat their longtime rivals in Ann Arbor in order to stay in the College Football Playoff mix and book their first trip to the Big 10 title game in the Jim Harbaugh era.
