Ohio State still in Big Ten mix
The Ohio State Buckeyes remain in the Big Ten title race thanks to a 26-6 win at Michigan State last weekend. The Buckeyes have won two straight to move to 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten. Ohio State is 4-6 against the spread and 6-4 with the under. The Buckeyes have hit the under in two straight and three of their last four.
Ohio State has a very dangerous offense. The Buckeyes are putting up 40.6 points and 527.2 yards per game this season, including 354 passing yards per game. Dwayne Haskins has thrown for 3,280 yards and 33 touchdowns with just six interceptions. J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber have combined for 1,423 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground while K.J. Hill has 57 catches for 733 yards and four scores. Defensively, Ohio State is allowing 22 points and 385 yards per game this season.
Maryland falls again
Maryland is coming off a 34-32 loss at Indiana last weekend, its third loss in four games. The Terrapins are now 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the Big Ten. Maryland is 5-5 against the spread and 5-5 with the over/under total. They have hit the over in two of their last three games.
The Terps have been pretty respectable on defense this season, allowing just 25.4 points and 343.2 yards per game. Their run defense has struggled, but their pass defense is giving up just 181.8 yards per contest. On offense, Maryland is putting up 28.8 points and 366.3 yards per game. They are largely reliant on the run game, which is putting up 234.9 yards per game. Anthony McFarland is the leading rusher with 724 yards and two scores while Ty Johnson has 506 yards and three scores. Johnson is dealing with a calf injury that has limited his play in recent weeks. Kasim Hills is the quarterback and has thrown or 1,083 yards and nine touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Ohio State
Ohio State has hit the under in six of its last eight conference games and in seven of its last 10 games following a win.
Maryland
Maryland has hit the over in four of its last five games following a loss and in 11 of its last 16 conference games.
Prediction:
Ohio State hasn’t been playing its best football in recent weeks, but the Buckeyes still have a dangerous offense. It should return to putting up some big points this week as Maryland has struggled to stop the run. Haskins has had a little bit too much on him in recent games, which has led to lesser offensive production. The Ohio State defense shined last week against Michigan State, but part of that was due to the Spartans’ struggled. I would expect Maryland to challenge the OSU defense a little bit. Ohio State gave up 31 to Nebraska and 26 to Indiana, so Maryland can contribute to this total and help it go over.
College Football Prediction: Ohio State/Maryland 58.5
