The Hokies are 5-2 on the season and 3-4 against the spread. Virginia Tech is coming off a loss to Georgia Tech two weeks ago, 28-23. The Hokies allowed the Yellowjackets to run for 309 yards as a team and quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw two interceptions to contribute to the loss. Taylor has thrown for 1,154 yards and nine touchdowns on the year while Ryan Williams has rushed for 834 yards and 10 touchdowns. Defensively, the Hokies are allowing 19.1 points and 317.4 yards per-game this season. On special teams, Dyrell Roberts is averaging 40.8 yards per-return, including a 98-yard return for a touchdown.
UNC is 4-3 on the season and 2-4 against the spread as the Tar Heels have lost three of their last four games. North Carolina has the top defense in the ACC, allowing just 16.4 points and 266.3 yards per-game. The Tar Heels have allowed just 718 yards rushing in seven games. On offense, UNC hasn’t had much success, scoring just 23.1 points and tallying 289.4 yards per-game. T.J. Yates has thrown for 1,028 yards and seven touchdowns, but has eight interceptions, while Shaun Draughn has rushed for 481 yards and one score.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL have made Virginia Tech 16.5-point home favorites over North Carolina on Thursday night. The over/under total for this game has been established at 43.
