Broncos not pulling away
Boise State got a scare at home last weekend, picking up a 20-17 overtime victory over Wyoming. The Broncos are now 8-1 on the season, 5-0 in the Mountain West Conference, 4-4-1 against the spread and 5-4 with the over.
The Broncos are balanced on both sides of the ball. The defense is giving up just 22.7 points and 344.2 yards per game while the offense is putting up 35.4 points and 448.8 yards per contest. Hank Bachmeier missed the last game, but is expected back tonight. He has thrown for 1,760 yards and nine touchdowns this year. George Holani is the team’s leading rusher with 619 yards and five scores, while John Hightower is the leading receiver with 33 catches for 630 yards and five touchdowns. Curtis Weaver is leading the Boise defense with 40 tackles and 12.5 sacks.
Lobos can’t get on track
New Mexico has lost six straight games coming into this weekend after a 21-10 loss at Nevada two weeks ago. The Lobos are now 2-7 on the season, 0-5 in the Mountain West, 3-6 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
New Mexico has been one of the worst defenses in the country this year, allowing 35.8 points and 490.4 yards per contest. Offensively, New Mexico is averaging 23.4 points and 419 yards per game. Ahmari Davis is leading New Mexico’s offense with 823 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while Tevaka Tuioti has thrown for 1,250 yards and seven touchdowns for the Lobos. Jordan Kress is the leading receiver for the team with 18 catches for 449 yards and four touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Boise State
The Broncos are 6-1-2 against the spread in their last nine games against a losing team and 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
New Mexico
The Lobos are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 against a winning team.
Prediction:
Boise State has won three straight with New Mexico, covering the spread in two of those three wins. The Broncos are going to have to cover tonight with defense. The Broncos have the potential to score big tonight, but we can’t trust that. They are a little inconsistent when it comes to putting up big points. However, the defense is still a pretty good unit and is facing an awful New Mexico offense. The Lobos have scored just 10 points in their last two road games and I think it will be something like that tonight.
College Football Week 12 Prediction: Boise State -27.5
