Navy Midshipmen Game Notes
Navy sophomore QB Tai Lavatai completed 11-of-15 passes for 116 yards and an interception in Saturday’s 27-20 loss to Cincinnati. Lavatai also had 22 rushing yards and two short scoring runs. Cincy did a good job clogging running lanes, with Navy needing 67 carries to churn out 192 yards. But Lavatai moved the ball better than would have been expected through the air, notwithstanding the interception. Today marked Navy’s season-high in passing yards. Next Friday, 1-6 Navy heads to Tulsa.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane Game Notes
Tulsa senior RB Shamari Brooks had a big game for Tulsa last week, lighting it up on the ground yet again in this week’s 32-31 win over USF. Brooks (5’9/195) rushed 26 times for 126 yards and two touchdowns in last Saturday’s 35-29 win over Memphis and impressed once more this weekend. The rusher carried the ball 23 times for 145 yards with one touchdown, finishing just ahead of fellow running back Deneric Prince, who totaled 19 carries for 110 yards on the ground with one touchdown.
