The Navy Midshipmen are off to a slow start but they’ve had ATS success against the Memphis Tigers, whom they’ll take on tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Will the Midshipmen at least cover as a 10.5-point road dog?

Navy Midshipmen Game Notes
Navy sophomore QB Tai Lavatai completed 4-of-7 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown, and ran 24 times for 53 yards in Navy’s 31-24 loss to SMU. Lavatai’s (6’2″/210) first touchdown pass of his career came on a perfectly executed flea flicker that left Kai Puailoa-Rojas wide open down the field. Unfortunately, besides that play offense was hard to come by for Navy, as the power run game was stuffed time and time again by SMU. Fullbacks Isaac Ruoss and James Harris II combined for 17 rushes for 40 yards on their end, and once Navy lost the lead it didn’t seem likely for them to be able to comeback. Still, it was a gutsy performance for the Midshipmen against a heavily favored opponent, particularly from the defense, and they’ll hope for a better result next Thursday against Memphis.
Memphis Tigers Game Notes
Memphis freshman QB Seth Henigan completed 34-of-57 passes for 463 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday’s 35-29 loss at Tulsa. Henigan (6’3/200) also scrambled nine times for 37 yards. He was really locked in with WR Calvin Austin, as the duo hooked up 13 times for 200 yards and a 30-yard touchdown with 3:11 to go in regulation. He also hooked up with TE Sean Dykes for a 9-yard score midway through the third quarter. The freshman from Denton, Texas has two or more touchdown strikes in four of his past five outings. He’ll look to keep up the good work Thursday against Navy.

The Midshipmen are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games against the Tigers, are16-5 against the number in their last 21 conference games and are 9-4-1 at the betting window in their last 14 games coming off a loss. On the other side, the Tigers are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games as a home favorite, are 3-9 against the number in their last 12 games as a favorite of any kind and are 1-7 ATS in their last eight conference games.
