Navy expected to have QB Horvath

Blake Horvath (back) is expected to suit up for the Midshipmen against Army on Dec. 14, Navy Athletics reports. The quarterback was questionable with a back injury, but it appears he’ll be good to go against the Black Knights. Horvath missed Navy’s past three games of the season, but prior to that absence, he tossed for 1,154 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions, while adding 895 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He’s a huge part of everything the Midshipmen do on offense, and will his presence will obviously be massive in the annual Army-Navy game.

Udoh goes off in win over Tulane

Kanye Udoh notched 20 carries for 158 yards and one touchdown during Friday’s 35-14 win over Tulane. Udoh saved his best performance of the season for the AAC title game, amassing a season-high 158 yards rushing. It was just the second time this season that the tailback eclipsed the 20-carry mark, but Army figures to rely on the dynamic tailback moving forward in the Army-Navy game set for Saturday, Dec. 14.

Navy vs. Army Prediction

Take Army. I’ve loved Army all season and there’s no reason to doubt the Black Knights now. I backed them versus Tulane last week in the American Athletic Conference Championship in what was a bad spot for the Green Wave and I’ll do so again today in the best regular season college football matchup of the year.

Army has been flawless at times this season. I see this game coming down to each teams’ ability to sustain drives. While neither team gets penalized much, the Black Knights are third in the nation in fewest penalties. The Midshipmen are also shaky when it comes to converting third down opportunities, while the Black Knights are tremendous at converting third-and-short tries. They’re No. 1 in the nation in time of possession, leaving opponents frustrated in the process. If Army generates a turnover or two, we’ll cash.

Navy vs. Army Prediction: Army Black Knights -6.5
