According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Prescott ranks behind only Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott (6/1) and TCU signal-caller Trevone Boykin (7/1) as far as the odds. LSU running back Leonard Fournette and Georgia’s Nick Chubb are also 8/1, respectively, to win the Heisman Trophy in 2015.
ESPN’s Alex Scarborough believes that it’s reasonable to expect career-best numbers out of Prescott heading into his redshirt senior season. He threw for 3,449 yards with 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last year while finishing eighth in the Heisman Trophy balloting. He also added 986 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.
How the Bulldogs play this season will have a direct bearing on Prescott’s ability to win the Heisman. He should put up great numbers again and if Mississippi State finds itself back in playoff contention late in the year, it’s not unreasonable to hear Prescott’s name announced at the Downtown Athletic Club in December.
