Badgers looking impressive
Wisconsin is coming off an off week as well, but the Badgers have been absolutely dominant through two games. They have beaten Central Michigan and South Florida by a combined score of 110-0. Wisconsin is 2-0 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
The Badgers haven’t given up a point yet and are holding opponents to just 107.5 yards per game thus far. Offensively, the Badgers are averaging 517 yards per game, including 300 passing yards. Jonathan Taylor has looked strong, rushing for 237 yards and five touchdowns. Jack Coan has looked good under center, throwing for 564 yards and five touchdowns. His leading receiver is Quintez Cephus, who has nine catches for 169 yards and two touchdowns.
Michigan struggling with offense
Michigan is coming off an off week last weekend, but prior to that the Wolverines got a big scare from Army. U-M earned a 24-21 win in double overtime to move to 2-0 on the season. Michigan is 0-2 against the spread and 1-1 with the over/under total.
The Wolverines are averaging 32 points and 396.5 yards per game on offense thus far while giving up 21 points and 272 yards per contest. Shea Patterson has thrown or 410 yards and three touchdowns through two games while Zach Charbonnet has rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Tarik Black is the leading receiver with seven catches for 104 yards and a score. The team is hopeful to get Donovan Peoples-Jones back from a groin injury. The receiver and return man has yet to play this year.
College Football Betting Trends
Wisconsin
Wisconsin is 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 games following a bye, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Michigan
Michigan is 1-6 against the spread in its last seven road games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record.
Prediction:
There is bad weather in the forecast for this game, but I think that favors Wisconsin. The Badgers still don’t know what they have at QB this year. While Coan has looked great, he will be facing a tough defense today. As a whole, this Wisconsin team hasn’t had to face any pushback from an opponent and we don’t know how the Badgers will respond. Despite all that, Wisconsin is at home with a really strong offensive and defensive line. Michigan has struggles with teams that can push it around up front and I don’t think Shea Patterson is good enough to overcome that with his arm. If weather is bad, it only limits the Michigan passing game.
College Football Week 4 Prediction: Wisconsin -3.5
