Michigan rested
The Michigan Wolverines are coming off a bye last week. They have won seven straight prior to the bye, including a 21-7 win at Michigan State two weeks ago. The Wolverines are now 7-1 overall, 5-0 in the Big Ten, 5-3 against the spread and 4-4 with the over/under total. The Wolverines have covered the spread in their last three games.
Michigan puts out one of the best defenses in the nation. The Wolverines are giving up just 14.4 points and 220 yards per game this year. Offensively, Michigan is posting 36.0 points and 420.4 yards per game. Their run game is leading the way with 212 yards per contest. Karan Higdon has rushed for 831 yards and six touchdowns to lead the team. Quarterback Shea Patterson has thrown for 1,523 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Penn State wins back-to-back
Penn State has won back-to-back games, beating Indiana on the road and Iowa at home last week. The Nittany Lions are now 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the Big Ten, 5-3 against the spread and 6-2 with the over.
The Nittany Lions are having a lot of success on offense this year, putting up 41 points and 459.5 yards per game. Quarterback Trace McSorley suffered a knee injury last week that forced him to miss some of the game. He is listed as questionable for today’s contest. He has thrown for 1,628 yards and 12 touchdowns this season while rushing for 617 yards and nine scores. Miles Sanders has added 834 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
College Football Betting Trends
Michigan
Michigan is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven home games and 5-1 ATS in its last six Big Ten games.
Penn State
Penn State is 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 road games and 16-6-1 ATS in their last 23 conference games.
Prediction:
Michigan has been a dominant team at home this season and Penn State is likely in over its head today. The Nittany Lions haven’t looked great over their last four games, struggling to impose their will on opponents. Michigan is a team that can impose its will, especially up front. I expect the Michigan offense to find consistent scoring through its run game and Patterson’s arm. Penn State won’t be able to keep up, especially with McSorley not at 100 percent, if playing at all.
College Football Prediction: Michigan -12
