Michigan Wolverines Game Notes
Michigan sophomore QB Cade McNamara completed 17-of-28 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-17 drubbing of Wisconsin. McNamara (6’1/212) played a clean, turnover free game which allowed the Wolverines’ mauling defense to work over Wisconsin who accrued just 210 total yards on the day. His first touchdown pass was a perfectly executed flea-flicker to Cornelius Johnson for a 34-yard strike to open the scoring barrage. Wisconsin actually kept it close at halftime, but once QB Graham Mertz went down with a rib injury, the already listless Wisconsin offense was doomed. McNamara will try to keep Michigan undefeated when they travel to take on Nebraska next Saturday.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Notes
Nebraska junior QB Adrian Martinez completed 11-of-17 passes for 202 yards with a touchdown and ran for 50 yards with three scores in a 56-7 throttling of Northwestern on Saturday. It’s almost surprising to see Martinez threw for this many yards, as Nebraska could not be stopped on the ground. The dual-threat signal-caller found Samori Toure for a 39-yard touchdown that extended the Cornhuskers’ lead to 49-7. He also found paydirt three times, and Nebraska ran for 427 yards and seven touchdowns against an overmatched Northwestern defense. The Cornhuskers are 3-3, and have a much tougher test next week against Michigan.
