Canes chaotic against Florida
Miami suffered a 24-20 loss to Florida two weeks ago in its opener, showing some really ugly football at times. The Hurricanes did manage to cover a 7-point spread in the loss while going under the 46-point total.
The Hurricanes had a defensive battle with Florida, as each team was held to right around 300 yards of offense. The Miami defense did create four turnovers while holding the Gators to just 50 rushing yards. Miami committed 14 turnovers as a team. Jarren Williams finished with 214 passing yards and a touchdown while DeeJay Dallas rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown and Brevin Jordan caught five passes for 88 yards and a touchdown.
UNC upsets South Carolina
North Carolina opened up the new Mack Brown-era with a 24-20 win over South Carolina in Charlotte last week. The Tar Heels were a 12.5-point underdog coming into the game while going under the 62-point total.
UNC was the clearly better team last weekend despite winning by just four points. The Tar Heels had a 483-270 edge in total yards in the win while forcing two turnovers on defense. UNC had great balance on offense as quarterback Sam Howell threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns. Javonte Williams led the ground attack with 102 yards while Dyami Brown caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. Myles Wolfolk led the defense with six tackles and two interceptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Miami
The Hurricanes are 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 road games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 ACC games.
North Carolina
UNC is 6-2 ATS in its last eight home games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 conference games.
Prediction:
North Carolina had a solid win in its opener against SC while Miami stumbled against Florida. The Hurricanes had a week off to correct the mistakes and should look sharper on offense. I don’t expect the Tar Heels to be able to put up over 400 yards of offense against this Miami defense. Miami has the better athletes and I expect the Canes to find a way past the Tar Heels right now.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: Miami -4
