Miami on losing streak
At one point, Miami sat at 5-1 and looked to be turning the corner, but the Hurricanes have lost three straight since, including a 20-12 loss at home to Duke last week. The Canes are now 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the ACC. Miami is just 3-6 against the spread and 5-4 with the over. The Canes have hit the under in their last three games.
The Canes are pretty stingy on defense this year, allowing 19.3 points and 264.7 yards per game. Their pass defense has given up just 141.1 yards per game, but their run defense will be tested this week. Offensively, Miami is scoring 32 points and 390.2 yards per game, but they have been held to 14 or less in three straight. Miami has been using two quarterbacks in Malik Rosier and N’Kosi Perry, but neither has really excelled. They have combined for 1,708 passing yards and 17 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Travis Homer is leading the offense with 702 rushing yards and two scores while DeeJay Davis has added 547 rushing yards and four scores.
Georgia Tech hitting a stride
Georgia Tech is coming off back-to-back wins at Virginia Tech and North Carolina the last two weeks and the Yellow Jackets have won four of their last five overall. Tech is now 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the ACC while posing a 4-5 mark against the spread and a 5-3-1 mark with the over.
The Yellow Jackets are really rolling on offense right now, as they are averaging 38.8 points and 467.1 yards per game behind their dominant option-run attack. As a team, Tech averages 377 rushing yards per game. Tobias Oliver has lead the way with 780 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns while TaQuon Marshall has 659 rushing yards and nine scores. Marshall has also thrown for 645 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, Tech is holding opponents to 28.2 points and 362.7 yards per game.
College Football Betting Trends
Miami
Miami has hit the under in 10 of its last 12 road games and in 11 of its last 14 conference games.
Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech is 4-1-1 with the over in its last six games and 6-2-1 with the over in its last nine ACC contests.
Prediction:
Tech has really found its stride on offense, but it is facing one of the top defenses it will face this year. Miami hasn’t been good on offense, but it still is tough on defense. I don’t expect the Jackets to run right over Miami, even at home. Miami should continue to have its offensive woes as well. They have been beat up over the last month by physical defenses and that should take its toll on them as they hit the road again. The total is being set pretty high for a Miami team that hasn’t gotten past 14 points the last three games.
College Football Prediction: Miami/Georgia Tech Under 55.5
