Memphis Tigers Game Notes
Memphis redshirt senior RB Brady White completed 22-of-35 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 30-27 victory over Houston on Saturday. White (6’3/215) helped the Tigers fend off a late rally by Houston, which strung together three straight fourth quarter touchdowns to tie the game at 27-27. Memphis answered the final Houston touchdown, with only 28 seconds left, with a game-winning field goal as time expired. Statistically, White has felt the loss of all the offensive firepower Memphis has suffered over the past calendar year. His completion percentage is down nearly five full points from last year, and his yards per attempt are down over a yard-and-a-half. All that said, the Tigers will head into bowl season 7-3, a testament to the veteran’s ability to pull out close wins like he did today.
Florida Atlantic Owls Game Notes
Florida Atlantic redshirt junior QB Nick Tronti completed 17-of-33 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in Thursday’s 45-31 loss to USM. QB woes have plagued FAU for much of the year. Thursday night was no different. In fairness to Tronti, he did enough to not completely derail the run game for most of this game, but when it came time to put up or shut up in the fourth quarter, he could not deliver. Tronti threw a pick on FAU’s final drive of the game on a desperation 2nd-and-15. The game was probably over at that point anyway, but the interception was a good summation of what FAU’s passing game provided the team on the night. Unless they find a reschedule, FAU finish the season 5-3.
