Temple gets back on track
Temple suffered a 38-22 loss at Buffalo three weeks ago, but the Owls have won two straight since. That includes a 27-17 win at ECU this past weekend. Temple is 4-1 on the year, 1-0 in the AAC, 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the over.
The Owls have been pretty steady on both sides of the ball. They are giving up just 17.2 points and 292.8 yards per game on defense this year, while the offense is putting up 29.8 points and 445.2 yards per game. Anthony Russo is leading the offense with 1,279 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. Re’Mahn Davis is the leading rusher with 503 yards and four touchdowns while Jadan Blue has 34 catches for 427 yards and two touchdowns. Ifeanyi Maijeh is leading the defense with 30 tackles and five sacks.
Memphis off to perfect start
The Memphis Tigers are off to a 5-0 start overall following a 52-33 win over UL Monroe last weekend. The Tigers are 1-0 in the AAC, 4-1 against the spread and 3-2 with the over this year.
Memphis is pretty sound on both sides of the ball this year. The defense is giving up just 19.2 points and 325.4 yards per game. Their passing defense is third in the nation, allowing just 146.2 yards per game through the air. Offensively, Memphis is putting up 39.8 points and 461 yards per game. Kenneth Gainwell is leading the offense with 620 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Brady White has thrown for 1,163 yards and 11 touchdowns while Damonte Coxie has 21 receptions for 301 yards and two scores.
College Football Betting Trends
Temple
The Owls are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games and 36-15 ATS in their last 51 conference games.
Memphis
The Tigers are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last eight games in October and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 conference games.
Prediction:
These two have split their last four meetings, but Temple has covered the spread in all four. The Owls have been the underdog in all four contests. Memphis is off to a good start, but the Tigers are facing a tough challenge in Temple. The Owls have been able to play Memphis tough for years and Temple has gotten some challenging games against the likes of Georgia Tech and Maryland at home. It would be easy to get caught up in the Memphis offense, but I think the Owls will hold up defensively and be able to keep this game close.
