Maryland Terps Game Notes
Maryland junior QB Taulia Tagovailoa completed 16 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions in Maryland’s 51-14 loss to Iowa on Friday night. Tagovailoa (5’11/205) looked solid on Maryland’s first touchdown drive of the day, when he led his offense down field on a nine play, 74-yard drive that ended on a touchdown pass to tight end Chigoziem Oknokwo. It was after that where the wheels fell off for Tagovailoa, as he finsihed the day with five interceptions, and was pulled following his fifth pick which came early in the fourth quarter. Now sitting at 4-1, Maryland will look to rebound in Week 6 on the road against Ohio State.
Ohio State Buckeyes Game Notes
Ohio State freshman QB CJ Stroud completed 17-of-23 passes for 330 yards and five touchdowns in a 52-13 rout of Rutgers on Saturday. Stroud (6’3/215) didn’t look like he spent the last two weeks with an injured shoulder. He was slinging the ball all over the field, including a 56-yard touchdown to Chris Olave late in the second quarter. After struggling out of the gate, Stroud has shown why head coach Ryan Day named him the starter going into the season. The Buckeyes face Maryland next Saturday afternoon.
