LSU Tigers Game Notes
LSU freshman QB Max Johnson is expected to start against Florida on Saturday. Johnson (6’4/211) had been backing up fellow freshman TJ Finley, appearing in each of the last three games in relief. Finley has not performed very well, opening the door for Johnson to challenge for the starting gig in practice. Johnson completed 11-of-17 passes for 110 yards, while Finley completed 14-of-28 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown in a 55-17 blowout at the hands of Alabama last Saturday. The Tigers face the SEC East champion Florida Gators in Gainesville this Saturday.
Florida Gators Game Notes
Florida redshirt senior QB Kyle Trask completed 35-of-49 passes for 433 yards and four touchdowns in a 31-19 victory over Tennessee. We’re running out of superlatives for Trask (6’5/239), as he has now thrown for at least 300-yards in seven of nine game this season. Amazingly, the 31 points that Florida put on the board is the lowest total of the year for the high octane Gators offense. The redshirt senior had little trouble navigating the Volunteer defense, making up for a stagnant rushing attack that gained only 19 yards on 17 carries on the day. The win solidifies Florida’s spot in the SEC title game.
LSU vs. Florida Betting Prediction
The Tigers are winless against the spread in their last four games versus the Gators and are 2-5 against the number in their last seven trips to Gainesville. LSU is also 1-4 against the number in its last five games after allowing more than 450 total yards in its previous game and is 0-5 against the spread in its last five games following a double-digit loss at home. The Gators, meanwhile, are 4-1-1 at the betting window in their last six home games, is 6-1-1 against the number in their last eight games following an ATS loss and are 7-2 against the spread in their last nine games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
