No. 18 LSU makes an early-afternoon trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday to face an Auburn team riding the biggest win of its season. One week after Auburn stunned No. 1 Georgia in Athens, the market still lists LSU as a 7-point road favorite with a total of 51. That spread asks Lane Kiffin’s team to win by more than a touchdown on a field where this series has often come down to the final possession. Below, we break down the matchup, the line movement, and our best bets.

LSU vs. Auburn Betting Preview
LSU enters at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play under first-year head coach Lane Kiffin. The Tigers are perfect at home but 0-2 on the road, with a 32-24 loss at Ole Miss and a 35-34 overtime loss at Kentucky. They bounced back last week with a 31-0 shutout of Mississippi State. According to the LSU athletics game preview, it was the program’s first SEC shutout since 2007.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt was sharp in that win. He completed 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. That was his first turnover-free game of the season, however, and he still carries eight interceptions through seven starts. Edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen, who has eight sacks, was left off the initial SEC availability report after leaving last week’s game early. LSU will be without linebacker Whit Weeks and safety Dashawn Spears, both listed out.
Auburn sits at 4-2 and 2-2 in the SEC in Alex Golesh’s first season. The signature moment came last Saturday, when the Tigers rallied from a 14-0 hole to beat Georgia 27-24 on a field goal as time expired. CBS Sports noted it was Auburn’s first win in Athens since 2005. Quarterback Byrum Brown drives the offense. He has thrown for 1,205 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions, and he also leads the team with 459 rushing yards. Auburn lists offensive lineman Tai Buster and tight end Hunter Herring as out.
LSU won the last meeting 48-18 in Baton Rouge in 2023 and has taken two straight in the series. The Plains have been tougher. LSU’s last visit in 2022 required a rally from a 17-0 deficit for a 21-17 win, and the 2016 and 2018 games at Jordan-Hare were decided by five points and one point, respectively.

LSU vs. Auburn Prediction — Is the Upset Hangover Priced In?
The spread opened at 7 and has not moved off that number all week. The price has, though. LSU’s side has shifted from -115 to -120 even with 60 percent of spread bets backing Auburn. The moneyline tells a similar story, with 89 percent of moneyline tickets on LSU at -290.
The matchup gives LSU a real edge. LSU’s pass rush ranks among the most productive in the country, and Umanmielen is back to lead it. That matters against Brown, who carries a heavy load as both a passer and a runner. Auburn also comes off an emotional, last-second upset on the road. Repeating that level a week later is a tall order. Auburn will also be without offensive lineman Tai Buster up front.
The case against LSU is just as clear. The Tigers have not won a road game this season, and both losses came in one-score finishes. Leavitt’s turnover issues have surfaced in big spots. Jordan-Hare has a history of keeping this series tight, and Auburn’s defense just forced three turnovers against Georgia. Still, LSU’s talent edge on both lines is significant, and a full touchdown at a slightly elevated price is a number LSU has cleared in every win this season.
The Pick: LSU -7.0 (-120)
LSU vs. Auburn Prediction — Can Two Strong Fronts Keep This Low?
The total opened at 50 and has been bet up a point to 51. LSU’s offense supports that move. The Tigers have scored at least 31 points in six of seven games, including 51 against Clemson and 63 against McNeese. Auburn also scored 39 on Florida, so a shootout is possible if both quarterbacks find rhythm early.
However, Auburn’s offense has been far less consistent in SEC play. It scored 21 against Vanderbilt and 14 against Tennessee, and its 27 points at Georgia came with help from turnovers. Auburn leans heavily on Brown’s legs, which keeps the clock running. Meanwhile, LSU has allowed more than 14 points only twice all season. Recent meetings at Jordan-Hare have also skewed low, with three of the last four games there finishing under 45 combined points. With the number pushed up a point, the value sits on the other side of the move.
The Pick: Under 51.0 (-105)
Final Thoughts and Bonus Angle
The moneyline offers little appeal on either side. LSU at -290 implies roughly a 74 percent win probability, which leaves almost no margin for a team still searching for its first road win. Auburn at +240 is tempting after the Georgia result. Even so, backing a second straight upset against a ranked opponent asks a lot of an offense that has been uneven in league play.
