This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NCAAF Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Texas looks solid in opener
The Texas Longhorns got off to a 1-0 start to the season last Saturday with a 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech at home. The Longhorns were able to cover the 19-point spread while going over the 55.5-point total.
Texas put up 454 yards in the win, yet managed to give up 413 to Louisiana Tech despite the large margin of victory. The Texas defense did create three turnovers, though. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger led the team with 276 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 34 yards. Brennan Eagles led the receivers with a pair of touchdown catches while Keaontay Ingram led the ground game with 78 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
LSU hammers Georgia Southern
The LSU Tigers opened their season by dominating Georgia Southern at home, 55-3. LSU easily covered a 27-point spread in the win while going over the 51-point total on their own.
LSU won every aspect of the opener, as it put up 472 yards of offense while holding Georgia Southern to just 98 total yards and only 24 passing yards. Joe Burrow had a very promising outing at QB, throwing for 278 yards and five touchdowns on 23 of 27 passing. Justin Jefferson caught five passes for 87 yards and a touchdown to lead the receivers while Clyde Edwards-Helaire led the ground game with 45 yards and a score.
College Football Betting Trends
Texas
The Longhorns are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six home games, but just 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games following a win of more than 20 points.
LSU
LSU is 4-0-1 against the spread in its last five games against Big 12 opponents and 6-2 ATS in its last eight road games.
Prediction:
The spread has grown from 2.5 points to 6.5 points, which makes you wonder if it’s a trap. However, LSU looked like it may finally have a reliable offense for big games and the Texas defense is still far from perfect. The Longhorns may be able to move the ball some, but I suspect they will struggle to control the line of scrimmage against this LSU defensive front. The Tigers have played more big games of this nature than Texas and I am not sure the Longhorns will handle the moment well quite yet.
College Football Week 2 Prediction: LSU -6.5
