Louisville Cardinals Game Notes
Louisville junior RB Tiyon Evans has been having a very productive fall camp thus far. Evans (5’11/220) transferred in the offseason from Tennessee where he ran for 525 yards on 81 carries with a 6.5 YPC and six touchdowns. He was considered the third-best JUCO recruit in the country last year and top running back ahead of Arizona State star RB Rachaad White who was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April’s draft. When asked about Evans’ performance thus far in camp, HC Scott Satterfield opined “Tiyon has really stood out in this camp,” Satterfield said. “Every day he has been making plays. He had a big long run on the first day we tackled, a big powerful run right up the middle for about 60 (yards). He’s stood out.” Though he is battling talented runners Trevion Cooley and Jalen Mitchell for carries, Evans will clearly have a role when UL takes on Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on September 3.
Syracuse Orange Game Notes
Syracuse sophomore RB Sean Tucker has been named to the Maxwell Award Watch List for the 2022 season. Tucker (5’10/209) is an NFL running back in the making. The bell cow back unloaded for 246-1496-12 last season while also hauling in 20 receptions for 255 yards and another two scores — on his way to AP Second Team All-American Honors along with being named First Team All-ACC. Tucker rushed for 100+ yards in nine of 12 games last season and earned a PFF rushing grade of 87.0. His 66 missed tackles forced ranked 10th among all running backs while his 4.11 yards after contact per attempt was good enough to land him in the top-24.
