Louisville Cardinals Game Notes
Louisville redshirt junior QB Malik Cunningham (head/neck) returned to practice on Tuesday. Cunningham (6’1/200) had a scary moment at the end of Saturday’s loss to Pitt, going down after throwing an interception and ultimately requiring a cart and support to leave the field. Louisville announced shortly after the game that the redshirt junior was expected for a short recovery and he’s already back at practice. The Cardinals are currently on bye and won’t play again until they tango with Georgia Tech on Oct. 9, giving Cunningham plenty of time to get back into the practice flow in earnest. Barring setback, the quarterback is expected to be ready to roll against the Yellow Jackets when it comes time for kickoff.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Game Notes
Georgia Tech redshirt junior RB Jordan Mason (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Friday night’s game against Louisville. This marks the third straight game that Mason (6’1/219) has been forced to sit out. Freshman phenom Jahmyr Gibbs will continue to receive the majority of the rushing load in his absence, as he has received 33 carries for 171 yards, a 5.2 YPC and a touchdown to go with six receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns in the air. Mason is in very real danger of getting “Wally Pipp’d” by the talented four-star recruit should he be forced to miss additional time, as Gibbs ran for 105 yards and a touchdown last game against Syracuse
