The Bulldogs improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play with a 31-24 home victory over hapless UTEP. J’Mar Smith was 17-of-29 through the air with a touchdown, while he also rushed for 22 yards and a score. Jaqwis Dancy paced the rushing attack with 12 carries for 93 yards. Kam McKnight rushed six times for 24 yards and a TD. Teddy Veal made 11 receptions for 103 yards, while Adrian Hardy had a 19-yard TD catch. Darryl Lewis had nine tackles to help lead the defense. Jaylon Ferguson racked up six tackles with 3.5 sacks.
Owls throttled at Marshall
Florida Atlantic dropped to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play with a 31-7 defeat at Marshall. The Owls led 7-3 early in the second quarter before allowing 28 unanswered points. Chris Robison was 18-of-35 through the air for 223 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. Kerrith Whyte Jr. rushed 10 times for 40 yards. Jovon Durante made seven catches for 114 yards.
