Bet on Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina
Virginia Tech is coming off a 54-17 win over ECU two weeks ago. The Hokies are now 3-1 in their first year under new coach Justin Fuente. The Hokies have hit the over in three of their four games as well, as the offense is really doing well right now. The offense is averaging 40.3 points and 449 yards per game, including nearly 200 rushing yards per contest. The Hokies are using a lot of different backs, but Travon McMillian and Jerod Evans have combined for 421 rushing yards to lead the way. Evans has thrown for 970 yards and an impressive 13 touchdowns as well. Along with the stout offense, Tech is also holding opponents to just 18.8 points and 264.3 yards per game, including only 150.8 passing yards per contest.
North Carolina is coming off a big 37-35 win at Florida State last week to improve to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the ACC. The Tar Heels have hit the over in three of five games, but remarkably went under last week in a game that produced 72 points. UNC is averaging 40.4 points and 484.2 yards per game on offense, including 348.2 yards per game through the air. Mitch Trubisky has thrown for 1,711 yards and 13 touchdowns without an interception this season to lead the offense while Elijah Hood and T.J. Logan have combined for 596 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. The offense has had to be great this year because the defense is giving up 31 points and 458.8 yards per game. UNC hasn’t stopped the run at all, allowing 236.8 yards per game.

Despite what the numbers say about Virginia Tech on defense, I don’t see anybody keeping the Heels from producing at least 21 points, probably more. Tech should also be able to run through this UNC defense like a hot knife through butter. The total has been lowered because of Tech’s history being a defensive team, but the Hokies aren’t same team anymore under Fuente. Feel confident by picking the over.
