Iowa Hawkeyes Game Notes
Iowa redshirt sophomore QB Spencer Petras was listed as starter on the team’s first preseason depth chart.Petras (6’5/231) backed up 2019 starter Nate Stanley last year, completing six-of-ten passes for 25 yards in limited action behind the entrenched senior. A former four-star prospect, Petras had originally committed to Oregon State before spurning the Beavers in favor of the cornfields of Iowa. The pro-style signal-caller is battling redshirt freshman Alex Padilla for the privilege of taking the first snaps of the year when the Hawkeyes open up at Purdue on Saturday October 24.
Purdue Boilermakers Game Notes
Purdue announced that HC Jeff Brohm has tested positive for COVID-19. Brohm and the school are awaiting another test to confirm things, but for now, the HC is in isolation at home. It is unclear yet whether or not Brohm is experiencing symptoms or to what degree, considering it is common to test positive while being asymptomatic. Brohm have to be without symptoms for at least 24 hours before being able to return to the field. Purdue are set to open their season this Saturday, but it looks as though they will have to do so without their head coach. Brohm said he will address the media on Monday, where he will presumably announce who will fill in for him as temporary HC.
