Houston Cougars Game Notes
Houston redshirt junior QB Clayton Tune completes 22-of-33 for 257 yards and a touchdown in a 28-20 win over Navy. Tune (6’3″/215) came out last week’s game against Grambling State with a hamstring injury, and for the first three quarters, it might have been the reason he struggled. He came through though when he needed to, Tune hit a wide-open Marcus Jones just as he was hit by a Navy pass rusher to get Houston their first lead of the game 21-17 in the comeback win. Houston will go on the road next Saturday to face Tulsa.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane Game Notes
Tulsa redshirt junior quarterback Davis Brin went 17-for-25 passing on the day, throwing for 355 yards, and three touchdowns as Tulsa defeated Arkansas State 41-34 on Saturday. Brin (6’2/208) put Tulsa on the board midway through the first quarter when he connected with wide receiver Sam Crawford on an 88-yard touchdown pass. Brin later found wide receiver JuanCarlos Santana for a 34-yard touchdown late in the second quarter and would connect with Crawford again in the third quarter for his third and final touchdown on the afternoon. Brin has now thrown for 428 and 355 yards over the last two weeks, and was good enough to get Tulsa its first win of 2021 in this one. They will look to ride their win streak to two next Friday night against Houston.
