Cougars fall to Washington State
Houston is coming off a 31-24 loss against Washington State on Friday to fall to 2-1 on the year. The Cougars two losses have come against ranked opponents in Washington State and Oklahoma. They are 2-1 against the spread thus far while going 2-0-1 with the under.
The Cougars are struggling on defense thus far, but also faced two of the most prolific offenses in the country. They are giving up 32.3 points and 497.7 yards per game thus far on defense. Offensively, Houston is averaging 30.7 points and 385 yards per contest, including 238 rushing yards per game. Quarterback D’Eriq King is leading the team with 434 passing yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 196 yards and five scores. Tulane is off to a 2-1 start to the season following a 58-6 win over Missouri State last weekend. The Green Wave are 2-1 against the spread as well while going 2-1 with the under.
The Wave have looked pretty good on both sides of the ball thus far. Tulane is giving up just 14.7 points and 276 yards per game on defense. Offensively, Tulane is putting up 35.3 points and 436 yards per contest. The Wave also have a strong ground attack, as four different players are over 100 yards. College Football Betting Trends
Houston
The Cougars are 5-1 with the over in their last six conference games and 4-0-1 with the over in their last five road games.
Tulane
Tulane has hit the under in five of its last six conference games and in five straight Thursday games.
Prediction:
The under has been the story in this series, as these two have hit the under in four straight meetings. I don’t think Tulane’s offense is as good as it has shown thus far and I don’t think Houston’s defense isn’t as bad as it has shown thus far. The Cougars should be able to contain Tulane more regularly and keep the total somewhat low. Houston has an offense that can be explosive, but the Cougars are still figuring some things out. I see them having some shaky possessions on the road.
