Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Game Notes
Hawaii redshirt sophomore QB Chevan Cordeiro completed 20-of-33 passes for 252 yards and an interception while rushing 12 times for 88 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 38-21 win over UNLV. All things considered, Cordeiro’s day through the air looks worse in the box score than it actually was. Cordeiro regularly did well to keep the chains moving and string together drives with short-to-intermediate passes. It just so happened that every Hawaii scoring drive, and there were many of them, all ended with rushing touchdowns, not passing touchdowns. Cordeiro even punched a couple in himself, making him the only Hawaii player to score twice. Hawaii finish the regular season at a solid 4-4.
Houston Cougars Game Notes
Houston junior QB Clayton Tune completed 30-of-49 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Saturday’s 30-27 loss to Memphis. Ever since Halloween, a stretch in which Houston has gone 1-3, Tune has been struggling with his efficiency, and this game was no different. Tune (6’3/215) ended up putting the ball into the air 49 times, and, while he did complete 61.2%, Tune averaged a paltry 5.5 YPA and threw an interception for a rough QBR of 47.8. This upset loss marks the end to a very strange 2020 regular season for the Cougars, who finish 3-4.
