Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetNow.eu, the Yellow Jackets are 4.5-point favorites to beat the Cardinals. The total, meanwhile, sits at 57 points. As of this writing, 55% of the public betting tickets wagered on this matchup are on the Yellow Jackets.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech redshirt freshman QB Tobias Oliver ran seven times for 115 yards and two scores in a 63-17 rout of Bowling Green on Saturday. Oliver also threw one pass that fell incomplete. The redshirt freshman quarterback has been impressive on the ground when he’s played, and the 6-foot-2, 192-pound signal-caller showed off his impressive wheels again on Saturday. The biggest play was a 62-yard touchdown with the game well in hand, but it was a nice reminder that Oliver has a bright future in this offense. He should see time again next Saturday against Louisville.
Louisville Cardinals
Louisville redshirt sophomore QB Jawon Pass completed 24-of-45 passes for 306 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Saturday’s 28-24 loss to Florida State. Pass (6’4/231) did finish with a nice final yardage total, but make no mistake, he was exceedingly hit-and-miss in Saturday’s loss. Multiple times he missed open wide receivers — he was showing a tendency to overthrow — and was intercepted on Louisville’s final, ill-fated, drive of the contest. Pass will look to tighten up on some things against Georgia Tech next weekend.
Betting Trends
Georgia Tech
The over is 4-1 in the Yellow Jackets’ last five conference games.
Louisville
The under is 4-1 in the Cardinals’ last five home games and 7-2 in their last nine games overall.
Prediction
Pass missed some wide open throws in that loss to FSU last week but at least he helped move the ball. He peppered receiver Jaylen Smith with five passes for 100 yards and while Louisville’s passing game has been inconsistent to say the least, it did show signs of life last week. The Cardinals are allowing 168.8 yards per game on the ground this season, which ranks 83rd in the nation. Oliver should have a field day leading the Yellow Jackets’ ground game, which should produce plenty of explosive plays. If the Cardinals can take another step offensively this week, I like the over on Friday night.
