Tech has rough 2019 season
Georgia Tech is coming off a 28-26 win over N.C. State last week to put an end to a three-game losing streak. The Yellow Jackets are now 3-8 on the season, 3-8 against the spread and 6-5 with the over.
Tech has been one of the worst offenses in the nation this season, as they are putting up just 17.5 points and 299.9 yards per game. The defense is allowing just 30.6 points and 416.3 yards per contest. James Graham has thrown for 1,124 yards and 11 touchdowns this year while also rushing for 278 yards and three scores. Jordan Mason leads the ground attack with 862 yards and seven touchdowns. Ahmarean Brown is the leading receiver with just 20 catches for 393 yards and seven touchdowns.
Bulldogs not lighting up the scoreboard
Georgia is riding a five-game win streak right now thanks to holding their last five opponents to a combined 44 points. The Bulldogs are coming off a 19-13 win over Texas A&M at home last weekend. Georgia is now 10-1 on the season, 6-5 against the spread and 9-2 with the under.
The Bulldogs have one of the top defenses in the country this year, allowing only 10.7 points and 268.1 yards per game. Offensively, Georgia is putting up 31.2 points and 414.4 yards per game this season. Jake Fromm is leading the Georgia offense with 2,131 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. D’Andre Swift has added 1,130 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while Lawrence Cager has 476 rushing yards with four scores.

Prediction:
Georgia has won and covered in the last two meetings with Tech, including a 38-7 win at Georgia Tech in 2017. The Bulldogs haven’t been ripping opponents apart this season, especially in the second half of the season. They haven’t beaten an opponent by 28 points since winning at Tennessee on Oct. 5. Tech has had a rough year, so it’s easy to see why oddsmakers have Georgia so heavily favored. However, they have been largely competitive most of the year. Outside of a drubbing from Virginia Tech, GT only lost by five to Virginia, won at Miami and lost by 10 against Pitt. I don’t expect the Jackets to score much, but I think their defense can put up a fight at home against the Georgia offense. The Bulldogs just haven’t been able to connect on a lot of explosive plays and I can’t trust them to cover such a big spread when they haven’t scored 28 in a game in nearly two months.
