Florida Gators Game Notes
With the help of a solid defensive effort, redshirt junior QB Emory Jones and the Florida Gators put up 42 points and shut out the Vanderbilt Commodores. There have been plenty of mixed reviews on a Florida team that has within three points of Alabama but also been upset by Kentucky all within less than half a season. Saturday’s 42-0 win over Vanderbilt had to have served as a bit of a get-right confidence booster for Florida as Jones completed 14-of-22 passes for 273 yards with four touchdowns and one interception, also rushing for 40 yards on five carries. The Gators also continued to mix in freshman signal-caller Anthony Richardson, who completed 4-of-6 passes for 25 yards with one interception. It will be interesting to see how much Florida can keep the momentum going as the rest of the season plays out.
LSU Tigers Game Notes
LSU freshman WR Deion Smith (undisclosed) likely out for Saturday’s matchup against Florida. Smith (6’3/198) hasn’t practiced all week so this doesn’t come as a shock that there’s very little chance he’ll suit up. The highly touted wideout had a massive game against Central Michigan with a 5/135/2 stat line, but as the competition has gotten better, he’s struggled with just 38 receiving yards in his last three games, all against SEC opponents. The Tigers are already depleted in the receiving core area as 2020 LSU receiving leader Kayshon Boutte is out for the remainder of the year. The struggles continue in Baton Rouge as they host No. 20 Florida this Saturday.
Florida vs. LSU Week 7 Betting Prediction
The Gators are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games played at Tiger Stadium and they’ve covered in four of their last five meetings with LSU overall. Florida is also 4-1 against the number in its last five conference games and is 5-2 at the betting window in its last seven games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in its previous contest. On the other side, the Tigers are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games played in October and are 0-4 against the spread in their last four games following a loss of more than 20 points.
