It doesn’t make sense why a three-loss USC team would be favored over the No. 3 team in the nation, even at home. This feels like a trap and it probably is, although there’s still plenty of reason to back the Trojans tonight.
USC already has three losses this season but its only been out-gained in one of those contests (a 41-31 loss to Stanford on October 19). One of the problems has been with turnovers, as quarterback Cody Kessler has thrown five interceptions in his past three games, which match his interception total for the entire 2014 season.
But Kessler has still thrown for 1,818 yards and 17 touchdowns on the year and has plenty of weapons in JuJu Smith-Schuster, Ronald Jones and Tre Madden. If Kessler can protect the ball, then USC has more than enough firepower to move the ball against a talented Utah defense.
The Trojans haven’t lost three games in a row since 2012. The pressure is on the Utes, who are trying to remain in the college football playoff picture. If it feels like a trap, it probably is.
Take USC, which is a 6.5-point home favorite according to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag.
