Bet on Ohio State vs. Maryland
Ohio State is coming off an impressive 62-3 win over Nebraska last week at home. The Buckeyes are now 8-1 on the season and 5-1 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes snapped a four-game losing streak against the spread in last week’s win and now they are 5-4 ATS for the 2016 season. Ohio State has an overwhelming offense and a powerful defense. The Buckeyes are giving up 13.8 points and 285.3 yards per game this season, including just 166.1 passing yards per contest. The offense is averaging 44.8 points and 503.7 yards per game. J.T. Barrett has thrown for 1,965 yards and 21 touchdowns while also rushing for 570 yards and six scores. Mike Weber is the team’s leading rusher with 842 yards and seven touchdowns. Curtis Samuel has added 599 rushing yards and 676 receiving yards.
Maryland is coming off a 59-3 loss at Michigan last week. The Terrapins are now 5-4 on the season but just 2-4 in Big Ten play. They are also just 3-6 against the spread on the year and 1-4 ATS in their last five games. Maryland is averaging 29.3 points and 417.4 yards per game on offense this season but allowing 27.2 points and 430.2 yards per contest on defense. They have really struggled against the run, allowing 226 yards per contest. Quarterback Perry Hills is questionable to play today due to a shoulder injury. He has thrown for 1,143 yards and 10 touchdowns this season to lead the offense. Leading rusher Ty Johnson is also questionable to play because of a shoulder injury. He has run for 635 yards and four scores.

Even if Maryland were healthy, I don’t think I would pick them to cover in this one. The Terps have been beaten soundly by Michigan, Minnesota and Penn State this season. Ohio State showed last week it can still be a very dominant team. I expect that to carry over today against a poor defense. The Buckeyes will be able to run the ball at will and cover with ease.
