The Odds
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Bruins are 11.5-point home favorites after the Cougars opened as 8-point road underdogs. The total, meanwhile, is sitting at 65.5 points after opening at that same number.
The Records
Washington State enters play with a 6-3 record and is an impressive 7-2 at the betting window this season, while UCLA is 7-2 straight up but jut 4-4 against the spread in 2015.
The Pick
The Cougars have covered the spread in seven straight games but this is a perfect opportunity to fade them. The Bruins gained 676 yards of total offense last week in a 41-0 blowout at Oregon State and also posted their first shutout on the road since 1987. Thanks to Luke Falk, Gabe Marks and Gerard Wicks, Washington State owns the No. 1 passing offense in the nation in terms of yards per game (417.3), but under Mike Leach they also throw the ball at will. The problem for the Cougars is that they also rank 110th in rushing yards allowed, 90th in points allowed and 84th in total yards allowed defensively. UCLA freshman quarterback Josh Rosen has thrown six touchdown passes without tossing an interception during the team’s three-game winning streak and he should have a field day against the Cougar defense tonight.
