Utah got its season started with a 37-16 win at home over North Dakota. The Utes went under the total in the win, which was set at 59 points. Utah put up 499 yards of offense in the win while giving up 242 yards to North Dakota, including just 55 yards on the ground. Tyler Huntley threw for 227 yards and a touchdown in the win while rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Zack Moss added 128 rushing yards with a touchdown. BYU is off to a 1-1 start to the season. The Cougars defeated Portland State 20-6 while losing to LSU, 27-0 last week. BYU has hit the under in both contests with ease. The BYU defense hasn’t been too bad, as it is allowing just 349.5 yards per game thus far. However, the offense is a mess. The Cougars are averaging just 231 yards per game right now and were held to only 97 total yards against LSU, including -5 rushing yards against the Tigers. Tanner Mangum has thrown for 296 yards and a touchdown to lead the team this year while Squally Canada has 106 rushing yards with a score.
The total is being set very low in this game because of BYU’s struggles on offense. I don’t see BYU being able to change things around this week against Utah, a team that has had its number over the years. Utah is likely to see some offensive struggles tonight as well. BYU may be poor on offense, but the defense looks like it is pretty good. I expect this game to be ugly.
