Hokies suspend two defenders
The Justin Fuente era of Virginia Tech football isn’t off to a great start, as two defensive players have been indefinitely suspended by the new coach.
The team announced this week that it has indefinitely suspended cornerback Adonis Alexander and defensive end Houshun Gaines after the pair was arrested on drug charges on April 24 for marijuana possession. Gaines was also charged with possession of alcohol, according to an AP report.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Virginia Tech is listed with 300/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs for the upcoming season. Oddsmakers have Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State all as 8/1 favorites.
Alexander is a sophomore coming into this season, but was expected to be a starter for the Hokies in 2016. Gaines is a redshirt freshman who was coming off a pair of sacks in the spring game. The Hokies are coming off a 7-6 season in 2015, the final one for Frank Beamer. Fuente takes over after three seasons with Memphis where he went 26-23.
