Clemson Tigers Game Notes
Clemson sophomore WR Frank Ladson (groin) is considered day-to-day ahead of Friday’s game against Syracuse. Ladson (6’3/195) started all of Clemson’s first four games, but caught just four passes on seven targets for 19 yards as the Tigers’ passing offense struggled to find continuity. He came off the bench last game against Boston College, receiving just one target which he did not catch in just four snaps before going down with a groin injury. With his snaps steadily decreasing over the course of the season, it’s hard to imagine Ladson being a factor down the stretch, even if he does suit up against Syracuse this Friday.
Syracuse Orange Game Notes
Syracuse redshirt sophomore QB Garrett Shrader completed 15-of-27 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns along with rushing 29 times for 178 yards and another touchdown in a 40-37 overtime loss to Wake Forest. Shrader (6’4/221) is a mauling runner who gave Wake Forest’s front-seven fits all game long. He plays bigger than his listed 221 pounds, as Shrader is thickly built and is always falling forward when he makes contact with a would-be tackler. He was at his best when the chips were down, leading Syracuse on an 11-play, 94 yard drive in exactly two minutes to tie the game with a 28-yard scoring strike to a releasing Sean Tucker with :21 left in regulation. Though Wake Forest was able to win the game in overtime, it doesn’t diminish how well Shrader played. The Orange will turn the page to their upcoming Friday night tilt against ACC juggernaut Clemson.
