Tigers left out of playoff
Clemson finds itself on the outside-looking-in for the first CFP Playoff poll, as the Tigers were No. 5 this week. Clemson is 9-0 on the year and 6-0 in the ACC following a 59-14 win over Wofford last weekend. The Tigers are 6-3 against the spread and 5-4 with the under.
The Tigers are a top-five team nationally in total offense and total defense this year. Clemson is giving up just 11.7 points and 247.2 yards per game this year on defense. Offensively, Clemson is averaging 44.2 points and 545.4 yards per contest. Trevor Lawrence has thrown for 2,027 yards and 20 touchdowns this season to lead the offense. Travis Etienne is one of the top rushers in the nation. He has put up 1,102 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Tee Higgins is the team’s leading receiver with 32 catches for 662 yards and four scores. Isaiah Simmons is leading the Clemson defense with 66 tackles and five sacks.
N.C. State drops another
N.C. State is coming off a 44-10 loss at Wake Forest last week for a second straight loss and third loss in four games. The Wolfpack are now 4-4 on the season, 1-3 in the ACC, 2-6 against the spread and 6-2 with the under.
The Wolfpack are giving up just 25.4 points and 362.1 yards per game on defense this year. Offensively, N.C. State is putting up 24.9 points and 396 yards per contest. Devin Leary has been given the ball the last games at QB. He has thrown for 485 yards and four touchdowns this season. Zonovan Knight is the leading rusher with just 389 yards and three scores, but is questionable with an undisclosed injury. Emeka Emezie is the leading receiver with 39 catches for 410 yards and a score. Larrell Murchison is leading the defense with 34 tackles and seven sacks.
College Football Betting Trends
Clemson
The Tigers have hit the under in five of their last six road games and in four of their last five ACC games.
N.C. State
The Wolfpack have hit the under in four straight at home and in five straight games on grass.
Prediction:
These two have hit the under in four of their last six encounters, but have hit the over in two straight meetings at N.C. State. I think the under goes this time around. Clemson should be angry about being out of the playoff mix after dominating the playoffs a year ago. Their defense has already been dominant, but should completely shut down this N.C. State offense. The Wolfpack have no threats at the skill positions. Clemson’s offense could probably put up a big number, but the Wolfpack are somewhat decent on defense and should enough stops to keep the Tigers under 50 points and I think that will allow the under to hit.
College Football Week 11 Prediction: Clemson/N.C. State Under 53.5
