Boise State Broncos Game Notes
Boise State sophomore QB Hank Bachmeier completed 34-of-47 passes for 388 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-31 loss to Nevada this Saturday. Bachmeier (6’1/210) posted the second-highest passing yardage total and highest touchdown mark of his career in the contest, but it was not enough to overcome three costly turnovers that helped put Boise State in a second half hole they would not climb out of. Despite Bachmeier’s prodigious passing totals, the Boise State run game continues to be putrid, gaining an embarrassing 24 yards on 35 rush attempts for an unsightly 0.7 yards per carry average. Three of his touchdowns came in the first half when the Broncos carried a slim 21-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. However they managed just 10 points in the final 30 minutes as Nevada cruised to victory. Boise State has another tough opponent on deck at BYU next Saturday.
BYU Cougars Game Notes
BYU redshirt sophomore QB Baylor Romney exited Friday’s 34-20 win over Utah State in the third quarter. Romney (6’2/195) got the start for BYU after Jaren Hall was declared out for the second-consecutive week. Romney got off to a good start for the Cougars, as he completed 15-of-19 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown before exiting. Freshman quarterback Jacob Conover came on in relief of Romney and completed five passes for 45 yards. BYU will now look to get it’s quarterback room in order as they prepare to host Boise State in Week 6.
